Condenser units are the outside unit of your air conditioner system and serves the function of creating cold air. Condenser unit is where the heat gets dissipated in to the air from the refrigerant. The entire air conditioner system can break down if the condenser unit is not functioning properly. It can always be replaced but it is not a suitable option for long term as with the replacement, AC components can get mismatched which will eventually lead to the shutting down of the air conditioning system.

When the condenser unit is replaced, the old air conditioner components will get mixed up with the new ones. The older air conditioner components will wear down quickly leading to the new condenser unit being rendered useless. The main reasons why your outdoor condensing unit will stop working is the failure of compressors and coils. Lack of preventive maintenance is another important reason for the condenser unit failures. Proper maintenance is an inexpensive way to prolong the life of the condenser unit and to increase the energy savings. The operation condition and the run time are two factors which will help to determine if the unit is on its last legs. Age of the unit, corrosion, electrical issues and several other factors will affect the life of the condensing unit. When older units face failure, it is better to replace the unit than spending more money on repairing. Change in the technology, energy usage, repair costs etc. are deciding factors regarding the replacement of a condenser unit.
